Bring out your fonts!
Fonty Python is a free, open-source font manager for GNU/Linux. It let's you browse folders for fonts and keep lists of them in easy-to-use collections for viewing and on-the-fly installation/uninstallation.
We aim to create a full-featured font manager to aid the work of designers working on the Linux desktop.
As of December 31, 2007 there is a new version (0.3.x) which is available now. It's fresh and new and more than likely full of bugs :)
The new version brings support for TTF, OTF, TTC (Truetype collections) and Type1 (PFA & PFB files), as well as a bunch of bug fixes. It's also localized now and speaks French and Italian (well, mostly). We invite people to translate the app.
The "stable" (but stale) release of Fonty Python is ''version 0.2.0'', released in 2006. I encourage you to go for the latest version instead - see below for the link.
Fonty Python is released under the GPLv2 and we welcome any contributions. To get in touch, leave us a message at our mailing list. Note: To submit tickets, register and login first. This helps us fight spam.
