Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find fonts to use?
In addition to the commercial fonts offered by professional foundries, there are also a wide variety of free fonts available. The creation of the Open Font License (OFL) has been especially helpful in giving font designers a standard license under which to release free fonts.
Below you can find a short listing of libraries or foundries that offer free fonts. Please make sure to read and abide by each font's terms of use:
- The Open Font Library - A collection of public domain fonts
- exljbris - A small collection of quality free fonts
- TypOasis - A designer's group site
- Fonteria - Manfred Klein's archives
- 20 Best License Free Fonts - A post from Vitaly Friedman's Notebook (look around for other posts on free fonts)
- Designer in Action - Site is in German
